Moving from international school to year 11

Long story- we lived in USA until my son was 10, he went to a UK school years 6,7,8 and then moved to an international school (on fathers insistence- we are divorced) for year 9 and 10. He hated it and has just refused to go to school and has now left. That’s left us in a pickle as we are now halfway through gcse and I’ve enrolled him in an online school to do GCSEs in a year. He has started today but is worried that he’s going to struggle with not being around other kids. Which I’m concerned with too. I don’t know there is much we can do. Does anyone have any advice !

Can you send him to a private school to do year ten again?

I think what I would do is try to reason with him that he’s only got to be at the school he hates until May and that any other option is going to be a hard row to hoe. (Or whatever the saying is)

It would be difficult to find a school that would allow Year 11, because of the different exam boards and the syllabus for each one.

A private school that would allow a repeat of Year 10 would seem to be the best bet, if he’s worried about contact with his peers.
