Hello, we are relocating to Cumbria, as with a lot of the UK the rental market is a nightmare. Can anyone tell me about their experiences with Dallam Highschool, I have read the ofsted, but personal experiences would be very welcome. Many thanks

I’m not far away & we considered it for my DD who is now in year 8 elsewhere.

Historically it was a great school, my NDN started as a NQT & rose to SLT there & everyone locally rated it. It was the first school in the area to have a break-out space for SN kids over 20 years ago, which at the time was pretty switched on! Unfortunately it hit some troubled times, I believe at one stage it had 3 new heads in a very short period - possibly in under two academic years but don’t quote me on that. We liked it when we viewed but that was a couple of years ago. It is rather in the middle of nowhere! Public transport is virtually non-existent but there are very reliable school buses. Depending on where you are though the weather can be inclement, I was a little concerned about my daughter getting safely back (we’re in Lancaster) if the snow came down.

What are the other options? We know a lot of people who are happy with QES & prefer it to Lancaster Girls Grammar.

Hope the move goes well - Cumbria/north Lancs is a lovely part of the world.
