Secondary schools sale

Hi all,

Can anyone give any advice on the catchment area for state schools on Glebelands Road in Sale ie m33 postcode (cross end side)

I am considering putting an offer on a property but concerned about secondary schools as it doesn’t seem close enough for Ashton mersey, which would be first choice.

Can anyone advise on the likelihood of getting sale high school if ranked as second preferences in this area? does anyone live around here with high school aged children, where do they usually go?

thanks

Google the local authority education department website and you’ll see admissions data for the last 5 years and will be able to see precisely where the furthest person accepted each year lived.

This is the catchment map for Sale High on their website. Glebelands is in priority A

Last year children from this area didn't get either Sale High or AoM. It was a huge shock for people as it's always been in catchment for Sale High in the past. It's been out of catchment for AoM for years. It's still well in catchment for the grammars but can be a bit of grey zone for the high schools.

Last year, children from the top end of Glebelands were allocated Broadoak in Partington, which is miles away and hard to get to and has a terrible Ofsted. Nobody I know of has ended up going there though as they've got into other schools off waiting lists, the majority going to BTH in Altrincham.

The advice from Trafford Council has changed this year and they're advising parents to include BTH somewhere in their list of preferences regardless of baptism status.

People seem to think that this might not be an issue over the next few years though as there are more spaces in lower primary school years locally.

It doesn't make a difference what order you rank the schools in though by the way. Sale High wouldn't know you'd put them second, so if there wasn't space at your first choice, you'd still get a place at Sale High if you are within their distance offered and so on through your list of preferences.
