Hi can I ask anyone in the Richmond/ Kingston area what their experiences are of secondary schools for art/ dance and whether a mildly dyslexic child could also cope with the academics at that school Ie) is the SEN dept also effective ?

I believe Teddington School & Twickenham School both offer Dance at GCSE - do check their websites though in case that info is out of date.

Greycourt is excellent for Drama - not sure if they do Dance. Don't do drama at TKA - I know people who have had a very poor experience with Drama at TKA. Obviously, something isn't quite right as they're not offering Drama at A level this coming academic year.

TKA has a great SEN department but if you're looking especially for drama I would pick Greycourt - although the SEN department isn't as strong from what I hear. Good luck

Are you considering private as well as state? If so (and you have a DD), take a look at Surbiton High

Bear in mind that Dance and Art "departments" might only be one specialist teacher for Dance and perhaps 1-2 for Art, depending on the size of the school. Teachers can and do move schools so nothing is set in stone.

Teddington school would be good for your child. Great SEN department, very good at drama and music. Good school for overall growth. Not bad results

DD had a great experience doing drama GCSE at Coombe Girls with a lovely inspirational teacher who supported her in her application to BRIT School for sixth form. That was a few years ago now, though, so no idea if things have changed.

Coombe Boys very strong in musical theatre and drama (as unclear of gender of your child).
