Could you please suggest some non-selective secondary schools in Manchester, particularly those located near Sale or Altrincham? Additionally, could you suggest some good places to live in Manchester for families?

In Sale, I think Ashton on Mersey is reportedly good and Wellington in Timperley. Their catchments are very small though ( around half a mile). I have no experience of any of the schools first hand.

Wilmslow is also a lovely place to live- Wilmslow high is a large school which most local kids go to. There’s also lymm and Knutsford which are nice and have good schools. All a little further from Manchester.

I know a few people in the Cheadle area and also Chorlron/Didsbury who like the areas for family life. No idea about the schools though.

Sale High is a lovely supportive school. Catchment area is shrinking though as its become very popular in the last few years!

Also heard good things about Ashton on Mersy and Wellington

Blessed Thomas Holford in Alchringham, but Catholic and has feeder primaries.

Cheadle Hulme High is well regarded but you would have to live very close to it to guarantee a place.

In Greater Manchester only Trafford borough has selective (grammar) schools. PP have told you of the schools that are available within your area.
You will pay a premium price for living in Trafford as it’s the highest of all the areas in Manchester.timperley has just come out as the area where the price has risen the most as well!

There are plenty of very good secondary schools across Manchester, which you can see from results tables.

are you looking for north or south Manchester?

If you want Sale or Altrincham I would recommend researching the catchment areas thoroughly, and the order of preference for admissions categories. Wellington was 0.5 miles one year.
