Boys school shoes that don’t fall apart

DS is coming to the end of Year 7. He’s always had school shoes from Clarks. All through primary school no problems. This year the first pair didn’t last the first term (soles peeled away from the uppers) and the second pair has had holes in the soles for weeks. Which brands are actually hard wearing/long lasting that you would recommend? He has a 25 minute walk to and from school, which is the only difference for his shoes compared to primary school!

My youngest can destroy shoes in no time at all. Goodness knows what he does to them but he can have the sole hanging off a robust trail shoe in no time. Our fabulous, wonderful, all knowing independent shoe fitter dispairs of him.

Hush Puppy Jezza is the winner. They are the only shoe he has not destroyed.

He's 13 now so we've tried a lot of shoes!

Startrite are a lot more durable than Clarks and worth a look at their senior options

Can he wear kickers? They have a little label showing so not always allowed but been great for DS and really comfy. Wore trainers for years at primary but never a complaint about his kickers all year (many many complaints about other aspects of high school 😬)

Yep, DS2 gets at least 6 months out of a pair of Startrite Rhino and, being severely autistic, only ever has one pair of shoes on the go at a time so wears them for everything, including long walks, in all weathers.

He's 19 and I'm hoping his feet have maxed out at an 8.5 and that they don't go out of business!
