Concern about Bourne End Academy -Other Parents experiences

Hi everyone,
I'm looking to hear from other parents with children at Bourne End Academy. My child has been struggling with some issues at the school and I've spoken to a few other parents who have had similar concerns. However, it's been difficult to get clear information in how widespread the issues are.

Some of the things I'm wondering about are:

  1. Bullying and behaviour management: Have you found the school proactive in dealing with incidents?
  2. Staff Turnover: It seems like teachers don't stay long, has this affected your child's learning?
  3. Communication from the school: Does the school return phonecalls, emails?
  4. Leadership changes: I heard they are bringing in an executive head. Do you think this will make a difference?
I'd love to hear from other parents about your experiences, good or bad. If you don't feel comfortable commenting publicly, feel free to DM me.

Thanks in advance

Geoff

Apologies this is not first hand but my best friend had a terrible experience with this school. Her daughter has now received a diagnosis of ADHD and ASD but the school just would not accept she had any neuro issues and insisted the family were to blame, reported them to social services and offered no support in the classroom or with learning. Eventually they were forced to engage once my friend had paid for a private assessment which indicated what she had said (ADHD/ASD). By the time she got an EHCP her daughter’s confidence was shot and she had been out of school for two years so ended up in an alternative provision. It is amazing but has limited her options academically. Just thinking about them gives me the rage!

For balance her very sporty and hard working nephew did well there but more recent experience is poor communication, poor pastoral support and inconsistent and ineffective leadership. My sister in law lives locally and mentioned to me re the new head which I very much hope improves matters for you. Sorry I don’t have anything more positive.
