Free school meals transition to secondary

Hi,
Wondering whether anyone can help. My daughter is currently in yr6 and has free school meals. Will this still transfer with her (like my elderly daughter now in yr8) or will I need to reapply? I know last year the information was that they were protected till March 25 but is that date still accurate?
I work a zero hours contract and some months get more than the £616 and sometimes less. Will they keep reassessing? She'd be on and off on an almost monthly basis if that is the case.
Anyone in the know I'd be very grateful!

Depends on the school we had to reapply but I know others that didn't

That date is still accurate so it won't apply and if your average income is too high over 3 assessment periods she'll lose free school meals. Once awarded them though they would run all the way through secondary school.

Our council processes them automatically.

They don't keep reassessing, just at transition so you reapply when she joins high school then it goes through with her

Thank you! It's a real worry at the moment as school dinners and bus fees would just push me over the edge financially!
