Good schools for Blackburn, Aberdeenshire

Hi ladies. I'm moving to Blackburn, Aberdeenshire and I'm looking for a good secondary school for my daughter near the area. The Aberdeenshire council has advised that Kemnay secondary school serves our catchment area and I've seen bad reviews about this school. Any recommendation of a good secondary school near Blackburn? I would love for my daughter to go to Cults Academy but I don't know if the council will approve our application since Cults academy falls under Aberdeen city. I'll highly appreciate your recommendations. Thank you

You might be better to put this in Scotsnet to get a more targeted audience who know about the local area. I went to school round their but it was before Kemnay had an academy!

Scottish education is very different from England

The Scots application system is different. You have much less choice you go to your local school usually. Would the only choice you can make be to live elsewhere?

Presumably secondary is the same system as primary.
You have to register your child at their catchment school and then put in a placing request if you want them to go to a different one.

There isn't the same obsession here with school places and getting your child into "the best school". The vast majority just go to their catchment one and I've never known anybody read up HMIE reports before finding a school.

I don't know why if you want Cults Academy you don't move there instead?

Cults Academy would be an awful shlep of a journey
