Moved from Independent school to grammar school

Hi, has anyone’s child moved from independent school to state/grammar school eg Tiffin Boys for A levels over the last year? If so how did you child find it. Did they settle in quickly. Family felt sad, anxious, stressed by the change? What sort of support and guidance was available for them? Was your child offered a place then didn’t take it even if made financial sense due to worries about leaving a wonderful environment that suited your child?

Would welcome any comments of experience.

My DC went to/are at grammar and plenty of people from all sorts of schools come for the sixth form, there are loads of new people. There were kids from private schools join in all my DC's year groups in lower sixth-they settled well :)

Good lord… both the sixth forms my kids attended (Comprehensives, to boot) had loads of kids who came from private schools. It’s fairy normal in London. No special pastoral support was laid on for them.

I realise that. I’m not living in a bubble. My son has no only been at an independent school for secondary school. And we are not well off living in a dream world.. Completely misinterpreted what I am asking. I’m not asking if any special care was provided to children transferring from independent schools. Just in general what support have parents found to be available. Eg Learning support due to anxiety etc, revision guidance etc.. anything. Especially with regards to Tiffin Boys school in Kingston Upon Thames

I think from this year onwards there will be tons of private school kids moving to Tiffin for 6th form, due to the VAT.

If you suffer anxiety, then you should be supported. But that is totally separate from transferring from private school! There are plenty of kids if transfer from private school! But yes, schools like Tiffin are well placed to support anxious students with revision etc.

OP, from your messages it sounds like your child doesn’t actually suffer from anxiety, but that you think that the transfer will cause anxiety? I don’t see why that would be he case.
