Hi,

Our daughter has been offered a place for 2025 entry and whilst we are very keen on G&L for the academic excellence and facilities we have a couple of concerns.....

We live in the Kensal Rise area and we value the importance of our daughter being able to see friends easily and are worried that the majority of pupils will be coming from SW and further out West and maybe South which could make socialising with ease and spontaneity more tricky. We would love to find out where people who are considering taking a place at G&L are coming from!

Our other concern is around the diversity of the backgrounds of the girls. Whilst we are economically privileged, we are a working family, where school fees would be our biggest outgoing of the year. We are aware that G&L's fees are higher than some other schools and we were concerned that this would mean that the demographic would lean very much towards the very, very wealthy and therefore the diversity of backgrounds would be impacted.

It would be great to hear from others who are also considering a place or who have joined in the last couple of years to heare their responses to my thoughts/concerns

Firstly congratulations!

My DD has been at G&L for a few years. Most of DD’s friends are from all over the place - some more central, some more west, some more south west. I think this is something that is hard to predict as every year will be different, as will every friendship group. I would just really make sure that the travel time to school is easily manageable as it makes such a massive difference to their lives.

They are from a wide variety of backgrounds too. I don’t think any are excessively wealthy, but in all honesty I don’t know as there is not much interaction between parents. My DD’s friends are kind and if any are from a very wealthy background they don’t show it off. I’m sure there will be some girls that do in every year, but that’s the reality of choosing to send your child to a private school in London! What other schools are you considering?

We are considering a place at G&L for my daughter. She will be travelling from central London and we are far from considering ourselves “ wealthy”. Like you, fees will be our major outgoings, but I hope it will be worth it. Are you going to the offer holders day ? This might give you a flavour of who might be joining this year.. we are going tomorrow morning:)

Yes we are going to to offer holders morning tomorrow (it's so early!!!!) Really hope that we are able to find out a bit more about where everyone is travelling in from. We are also considering Francis Holland Regents Park but I am definitely more keen on G&L
