King’s College Wimbledon versus Reigate Grammar school

Hi all. My DS has got offers from both King’s College School Wimbledon and Reigate Grammar School. We live in Epsom. He is a creative kid, loves reading and music, however he is not very sporty. We understand both schools are excellent in academics and pastoral care. With regards to commute, RGS will be slightly easier from where we live; however we intend to use the school bus service initially and may switch over to public transport only later, probably year 9 onwards. Eager to hear from parents who were in a similar situation like ours. We have the taster evenings coming up next week and are keen to understand what exactly to look for on these days before we take our final decision. Thanks in advance.

Congrats to your son. I would imagine this is an uncommon combination of schools to choose between given the locations? I have a son at RGS and he is very happy and they seem to get results while having a lovely atmosphere. I feel like Kings is next level above in terms of academics? Guess also depends if preference for co-ed or all boys? Children seem relatively local to Reigate and socialising seems to happen around there whereas Kings possibly has wider catchment and therefore friends all over London? Whilst there is lots of sports on offer at RGS, if it isn’t your thing then you aren’t forced into doing too much. Good luck with your choice.
