I believe that the advice from the ukmt is that you write to secondary schools local to you that offer it to their pupils, and ask if your dc can sit it alongside them.

You have to go via a school. So ask your local schools.

Erm yes they do, my parents contacted the schools and me and my siblings went off to do our exams

Try a few more schools, including private schools and grammar schools that do ukmt routinely and might be willing to let you pay.

Ok thanks. I will try.

DS2 (at a local primary, rather than home ed) took the Junior .Maths Challenge in year 6 at a local grammar school. We just had to pay the entry fee (about £1.40 at the time).

Admittedly 1. this was 11 years ago and 2. it was a school with which we already had an association (and with DS2's selection test result and it being named as our first preference on his CAF, it would be where he was going in year 7).

Grammar and Private schools tend to enter their pupils into it, so if your local secondary school doesn't then try them

It's not the sort of thing they publicise, so you don't know unless you ask. It simply gets tagged to the school day at many state schools for their top maths sets.
