Setting up this thread for those of us with DC joining year 7 SW London schools in 2026.

We’re planning to apply to KCS, Hampton, Epsom and Reed’s.

Have been living in Dubai for three years, returning in August for year 6 at DS’ old prep school.

DS has an online tutor focussing on exam technique and any gaps in the curriculum, plus Atom. Current school is great but definitely not preparing him for 11+!

Amazing news and congrats to all! And full of envy as we are very exposed to the Friday fireworks 😂

Thank you and good luck! :) x

MunchkinJ · 11/02/2026 14:59

Congrats on all the LEH offers! Yes, also feeling envious, and impatiently counting down to Friday. So near, yet so far!

Well done on LEH offers - has it arrived earlier than expected offer date? Hoping G&L comes early too!

V interested did LEH etc telegraph offers would come on Friday specifically or “by Friday” is there a likelihood that some schools come before then?

fairly desperate for news at this stage and I thought all would come on Fri!

firsttrax · 11/02/2026 16:09

Congrats on all the offers received so far! We’re delighted to have Reed’s and Epsom, now waiting (hoping) for the remaining ones to come on Friday 😃🤞

Same here - I thought they were all quite united on Friday offers so it's even tougher to wait with so many offers coming out!

minipie · 11/02/2026 16:47

JAGS is tomorrow, anyone else waiting for that or is it a west london / boy crowd here?

Hereweg0again · 11/02/2026 16:59

@thejollypostwoman1 I had seen comms from LEH saying 'by Friday' and in previous years they have come out on the Wed or the Thursday. Putney had said 'mid-Feb' and that came out this week too. Really hope some of yours come before Friday x

lg1040 · 11/02/2026 17:29

also waiting for JAG's!

carbonelthecat · 11/02/2026 17:51

Also waiting for JAGs! I cracked just now and checked when we got DD1's offer email a few years ago and it was 08:58am - so hopefully we'll be out of our misery first thing!

Here’s hoping, best of luck to everyone furiously refreshing their inbox / checking their junk mail on Friday!

ABCFulham · 12/02/2026 09:31

JAGS emails are out and thankfully it is a yes for us... good luck everyone!

carbonelthecat · 12/02/2026 09:35

@ABCFulham Congrats - same for us! What a relief.

lg1040 · 12/02/2026 09:48

same here! so delighted. Now having to choose between JAG's and Putney. I know how lucky we are and don't mean to sound smug at all but does anyone have any feedback? Again for balance - we didn't get into Alleyns and my learning from this is that it's easier to get into all girls schools then coed. JAGs is much easier for us location wise but Putney is my DD's favourite and she loves gymnastics...

Well done. Better location every time if not much else in it!

ABCFulham · 12/02/2026 10:04

Congratulations @lg1040 and your DD and must be lovely to be spoilt for choice!! My view is that vicinity to the school is important as the intensity of early morning and after school clubs and activities, time with new friends, etc. picks up. Logistics is the major factor that is weighing on our decision as we love the feel and culture of JAGS.

In the same boat trying to decide between Putney and LEH. Putney is accessible by public transport but for LEH we are dependent on the coach for DD and a 35min drive to get there if we ever needed to collect her, go to the school etc. DD is happy with both schools and we booked offer days. I am mostly leaning towards Putney (from an accessibility perspective), but DH is very keen on LEH! Are there any other considerations to take into perspective besides the (very crucial) location?

lg1040 · 12/02/2026 10:24

For us it's the sports offering. My DD does gymnastics outside of school currently and Putney offers gymnastics (although she didn't get the sports scholarship) and JAGs only does team sports that my DD is not that interested in. So it will be a question when we go to JAGs as to what they offer and how they introduce otherwise sporty kids to new sports and at Putney - what is the gymnastics like if you didn't get the scholarship. They are so nose to nose with their results as it's such a tricky choice for us.

sevilleseville · 12/02/2026 10:37

I know a few very good gymnasts at PHS and they all did it at clubs outside so I’d double
check what exactly they offer. I imagine they have to do netball and lacrosse at PHS as well.

lg1040 · 12/02/2026 10:54

it would be the same for JAGS no in terms of netball and lacrosse? The other thing we like the look of is the rowing. She's very small (gymnast) but very muscly - so my husband thinks she could do well as a cox (whatever that is)....

sevilleseville · 12/02/2026 11:03

I think JAGs is hockey? I just meant that she will have to do all sports, not just gymnastics. Rowing is great but VERY early mornings and takes up a lot of time!
they’re both good schools but I would weigh up the journey very carefully..

JAGS has a cheerleading squad which I think some of the girls who are more gymnastics leaning do - worth asking about at the offer day as I don't know much more about it than that.

lg1040 · 12/02/2026 11:38

thank you all!

HawaiiWake · 12/02/2026 12:05

Those with multiple offers, a suggestion from other parents which we found v. helpful, check GCSEs curriculum. Subjects, exam boards, timetable eg. Some in blocks and others open to all. Early GCSEs option, especially for bilingual families. Further maths, only top sets or those on track for 7,8,9. Some schools second sets getting 8/9 but only top sets get to sit.

SWLmama · 12/02/2026 12:15

@Seasaltlady Go for Putney, it's a much more modern school with a good GDST network. Putney has been pretty reliable in terms of results and output too, that the other comparable schools nearby weren't able to show in the recent years and I rate that.

LEH is a great school and I have family there too, but it really is motivated to charge pupils more money. I have some examples that I'm happy to share via private message.

SWLmama · 12/02/2026 12:26

@lg1040 I want to say depending on how good your dd is at gymnastics, she may or may not get to be part of the school gymnastics team or squad. This is true for most schools and any sport. Sadly, loving the sports sometimes doesn't cut it. Putney has a pretty high-performing gymnastics squad so if you're choosing the school for that, make sure you manage DD's expectations.. Personally I'd go for the closer one unless child preference is really strong...
