Hi,

We are looking to move to Shinfield/Spencer’s Wood/Three Mile Cross area but I was wondering what secondary school children tend to go to in this area? The only secondary school I can see is Oakbank but I’ve not heard great things about it.

Also what is it like to live in the area?

We are currently on Green Park and love it here but we need to upsize and unfortunately there isnt anything on the development suitable. Ideally, we don’t want to pull our children out of primary school, hence why we are quite limited to Shinfield/Spencer Wood area.

Shinfield is Wokingham schools. Input some likely addresses in www.wokingham.gov.uk/schools-and-education/school-admissions/schools-and-catchment-or-designated-areas to see school catchment area.

Wokingham schools tend to be good schools.

Children in Shinfield tend to go to Emmbrook or Holt (girls). Oakbank should be avoided if possible. Bohunt Wokingham is good too but is oversubscribed and Shinfield might be a bit too far out to get a place there, although it is increasing the PAN when the sixth form opens in 2026.

There are also the two Reading super selectives - Kendrick for girls and Reading School for boys.
