I am a little confused....we don't know the results from Tiffin stage 2 yet? Or are you thinking he won't get an offer? Plenty of dc don't get offers from their first choice school and survive it 😉I always think if it does not happen, there is a reason for it....usually a blessing in disguise and you will realise it later. We also applied for Tiffin and I do not think my ds would get it. It is not our first choice though. Well, we don't really have any first choices....we selected a few schools, which all have pros and cons so will try to focus on the positive of whatever we get.

There are a few stories though of dc not getting into one school and then getting into a more academic school. Does not always happen of course, but I have heard of a few.

Where else did you apply?

"We" are still too young for 11+, but I keep seeing posts here that DC who didn't get past 2nd stage in Tiffin got offers and scholarships from top private schools or grammars. It's just simple curiosity.

Do you mean a ds who sat the 2nd stage exam but didnt get an offer on the early March date and didnt get on the wait list?
I think every top performing private school has pupils who didnt get into Tiffin.

Absolutely this.

And there are a small number who will have got offers from Tiffin but went private in the end.

When it comes to the 11+ sometimes it's pure luck of the day....if your dc is on best form etc. It is a very stressful time...some kids come down w bugs or are not well on the day. I had to send my son in with panadol in case he got a headache mid exam (because the day before he had a headache and I was worried if it happened again). Children can bomb the exam or do well and you just don't know. I have heard of cases of dc not getting into one seemingly easier school but then getting into a more academic one. I have no idea of any Tiffin one's though.....as no one I know applies. My ds told me during stage 2 at Tiffin there was a dc crying and another one vomited from the stress. It sounds horrible!! Anyway, hopefully someone will come along with some success stories....we are mid 11+ so have no idea if my ds will receive offers from the private schools we applied to. Tiffins is the only grammar he applied to.

The lovely boy that took me on the tour of Hampton at their open day told me that he didn't even get past Tiffin stage 1, but got a place at Hampton.

I agree with @SamPoodle123
It can all depend on the day and at 10 years old, it can still be very unpredictable how they cope with the pressure!
