Hello,
I am still looking into what secondary school should I send my boy next year ! Please if anyone has any feedback for Chertsey High school or Thamesmead School or Salesian School, Chertsey. I am so anxious to choose 😓. I have no clue… I am keep on reading reviews and all sorts but I can’t decide
Any mums please share some experience from your kids schools please

Do you already live in the area? I would first check catchments/largest distance admitted as it may be that only one of the schools listed is a realistic option.

Assume you are catholic and at one of the catholic feeder primaries for the Salesian?

AncaS · 21/10/2024 12:03

I am not catholic but they do take children from different religions backgrounds
I live in Laleham and I am within 3 miles from all mentioned above
I wold just want some parent feedback that’s all

They do, but it’s about 11th on the entrance criteria. You sound anxious about the decision, so I was pointing out that not thinking about options that aren’t realistic could save you some anxiety.

I live close but not close enough to go to those schools, so I will bow out now.

Popping back...

Surrey secondary admissions stats are here:

Only children in criteria 1-3 were admitted to Salesian so it is unlikely to be an option for you. Worth looking up the other schools you mention also.

Which school exactly is your actual closest? I have friends whose children have been to Thamesmead and Bishop Wand and are happy. Ds2 is still at Salesxxn and I have been very happy.

I would recommend Thamesmead out of those options. Not a fan of Salesian personally and don't know much about Chertsey High.

Other options that may be available to you: Magna Carta, Matthew Arnold, St. Paul's, Bishop Wand, Jubilee High.

I would steer clear of Sunbury Manor and Thomas Knyvett in your shoes.
