Last distance offered for Fortismere for 01 Sept has just been published:

For the first time it's over 2miles (increased from 1.1m on offer day). Is this reflecting a lower roll or school less popular than it has been, or a mix? Very grateful for any insights from parents currently attending as considering as an option for my son but previously would have been out of catchment.

The buildings are in a very poor state of repair at F, that's one of the reasons I didn't choose it. It feels like millions is needed to get them up to scratch again and that's a potential disruption as well as a big ask for parents.

This is true but was the case for nearly every state school I saw. They are generally in shocking states.

Yes but I would expect them to be doing something about it (like Acland Burghley is for example) and telling prospective parents their plans.

I think they do have building plans due to start soon. TBH I’m not so bothered about the buildings, if the teaching is good and kids are happy.

My DS is now 19 but when he was choosing secondary school, the shift in popularity had shifted towards APS, and that seem to have continued. He didn't go to either but had lots of friends in the area.

Slowhorses1 · 25/03/2026 09:40

That is definitely the shift @Kadiofakit but our choice is fortismere or HWS
