Best secondary around Shepton/ Frome/ Wells

Hello- we are moving to just outside of Shepton Mallet and looking for the best secondary for my son. State only! Any thoughts? He’s Year 7.

We lived in Frome until recently. We were still at primary schools though. (As far as I know) there is only one state secondary in each of those towns, so not really a huge choice to make. Frome College (Frome), Whitstone (Shepton), and Blue (Wells). Of the three, I'd say that Blue definitely has the best reputation.

You can look in Bath too. Do bear in mind travel times are longer than you think as roads get congested. Most kids will go to the local school, going out of area just isn't the thing in rural communities

that's the thing we are in-between all 3 places on the sticks! worth looking at Bath but that's much farther away

Are you north towards Radstock or South towards Bruton?

Also, Frome uses the three tier system so your son would be in a middle school right now and move up in year 9 so you might decide that it's an extra level of disruption added!

it's near Cranmore so really equidistant from wither Radstock or Bruton.

I'd maybe take a look at Sexey's in Bruton then.
For me, knowing how long it can take to travel, I'd probably limit myself to there or Whitstone.
