Immersive / intense GCSE Spanish for Y10 London boy

DS has to do a school mandated language from Y7 through to GCSE but is really struggling - I think it was a personality with teacher clash in Y7 and Y8 which means he bombed his EOY exam in Y9 and is very behind. Does anyone know of any holiday time intensive revision courses that might be available?

Can you afford a tutor? My DS was doing badly so I luckily had A level Spanish and dusted it off to try to help him. If you’re up for it you could start studying with him? Happy to advise some resources, there is so much out there. Institute Cervantes do group courses but you can’t beat a tutor

Is it aqa the books are good.

I got A star and mainly used the book and the online kerboodle.

So is he in year 10 now @solounderthesun ? And yes is he taking AQA?

Is he taking foundation tier (capped at a grade 5 but a lot easier)?

So many questions sorry! but I agree, it might be better to secure a tutor for him to go over the basics he is lacking. A good tutor could work on this online in maybe half an hour or an hour a week and make a real difference. Would you be able to stretch to this? You might only need a couple of terms of regular work.

If you do, please make sure the tutor is familiar with the spec of the exam that DS is taking, as at this stage that is key. That's more important IMHO (and I am an MFL tutor - not touting tho as I don't have Spanish to GCSE tutoring level - more to "helping my own DC" level!) than being a native speaker, for example. So do check that carefully.
