Hi

we live out of area for H&E but it’s my daughter’s first choice.

she is a confident musician and just passed her Grade 3 piano this summer. She’s due to take the music aptitude on 5th Oct but would love to hear from anyone that has taken it in the past and what to expect. Is it the standard tests you can get online whereby it tests on pitch, rhythm, melody and texture? Is there more to it? (I’ve read on a different group that some schools do a little interview about preferred styles of music/composers and test on identification of instruments from images etc)

lastly - anyone happen to know what the pass mark is in recent years? We’re doing Hockerill too on Sat and know those scores need to be pretty close to 100% to be considered) any advice on the language aptitude structure for Hockerill also gratefully received!

Hi sorry too late to help re Hockerill tests but (assuming they haven’t changed in last 7yrs) the H&e music tests are just multiple choice as you describe covering pitch, rhythm etc. No interview or questions about composers etc. Very different from the Hockerill music test which is much more subjective and hard to prep for .
