Hi, looking, I suppose, for some parent experiences of Oxfordshire boys school (co-ed ok). My son is in Y6, and in an excellent Oxfordshire prep. He is very strong academically, esp maths and STEM subjects. He is averagely sporty, but very enthusiastic about it. So far likely to apply for MCS and Abingdon. MCS is my preferred as a match for him- his headteacher agrees.
Tbh I don’t really take to Abingdon, but DS does (as, for some reason, all boys in his year seem to think it’s the best school ever). I’m really concerned by (confirmed) reports of bullying at Abingdon especially in the lower years. I’ve heard shocking reports and I’m concerned this represents something very fundamentally wrong with the school, and it’s leadership. I suspect it must, especially with previous issues with misogyny (in press etc). DS is emotionally immature and I’m so concerned with what I have heard.
Also querying D’Overbroecks, but visited and can’t get over the tiny city centre site. I can’t reconcile it with the marketing photos of the Sixth Form site elsewhere in the city. DS liked it.
Some experiences of other alternative schools to MCS and Abingdon for boys would be much appreciated, or indeed positive experiences of Abingdon, which might allay my concerns about it.
We would consider Bloxham, as hear great things about it.
thank you
