Further Maths GCSE - which board is best?

For various reasons, my DD is thinking about doing further maths GCSE. She is a very competent mathematician, and she is planning to do maths at A-level (and possibly further maths as a 4th A-level). Her school do AQA, but she is down a GCSE, and so one possibility is that she sits a different board and gets a full GCSE.

We are trying to work out which board would be best, both from the GCSE perspective, and also supporting A-Level maths/further maths. I believe some boards are harder than others, and so it would be really good to get the thoughts from any maths teachers, about the cost (difficult)/benefit?

Also, we are unsure if there is any real benefit in doing a 'full' GCSE compared to AQA, so again, if anyone has any advice/experience, please share!

I've always found AQA level 2 further maths to be very useful for students preparing for A-Level.

I believe Edexcel recently launched one, but I think it does not inlcude any new topics from GCSE - so I don't know if that would be as useful - but I haven't taught it so I can't be sure.

I believe the OCR course is significantly bigger in content and contains much more of the AS level material.

A level maths is hard for almost all students and it's certainly worth doing extra before you get to A-levels.

There is also the possibility of doing GCSE statistics which would help witht he stats aspects of the course. This would give you a full GCSE and would be realistic to study more indeoendently, although would not help with A level pure maths, although would obviously be useful to the A Level stats.

I did AQA further math it was quite easy and then I did AQA a level math and year 12 was mostly GCSE further math stuff

Thanks all for your experiences. @dootball GCSE statistics is a brilliant idea! I am going to have a look into that. Thank you!
