AQA GCSE English Language Paper 1.

My child is 4 marks below an 8 overall for English Language.

I requested the scripts - teachers have taken a look and say too few marks were given for the level the examiner awarded for Question 5 (B5A05 Content and Organisation).

The examiner awarded an overall Upper Level 3 (UL3) for B5A05, with 4 different Skills Descriptors at UL3 rating (plus 1 x L3 and 1 x LL3).

The marks awarded by the examiner for this UL3 rating was 13/24.

As I understand it, the overall range for a Level 3 within B5A05 Content and Organisation is 13-18 marks. Within this, UL3 marks range is 16-18.

Am I correct? The mark awarded should have been at least 16/24?

16/24 is the bottom of UL3.

Is an increase to 16/24 likely to be the most we can expect, or given that the examiner gave UL3 for 4 Skills Descriptors could the mark go up to 17/24? An increase from 13 to 17 would be the mid point within UL3.

As an examiner, what score out of 24 for this section would seem likely to you, given info above as to 4 skills at UL3 (1 x L3 and 1 x LL3).
thank you!
