Dear Community,

I would like to get your opinion on these two Sixth form schools in Sutton - Greenshaw High School and Harris Academy Sutton. My child got his targeted A level subjects in both of these schools so would like to hear from Parents who have experience with these schools in Sixth Form. Greenshaw looks to be established old school with fairly good track record in Sixth form with bulk of students going to Russell Group uni and some top few even to Oxbridge whereas Harris Sutton is new school with no track record on Sixth form - their firtst batch will get out next year (2025) only. While Greenshaw is Ofsted Good school, Harris was given Outstanding by Ofsted recently and academically I heard Harris is putting a lot of focus to ensure their initial impression with the Sixth for batches come out good.
Eager to hear your opinion.

BrandonBrandon which school did you opt for in the end ? My DS is interested in Greenshaw so any info you can share would be appreciated.

@HapppyDazeMy DD has just left greenshaw. I have been really impressed with sixth form. They work very hard I think to keep the high achievers instead of losing them to the grammars. She has been there since y7 and looked at moving to Wally girls but decided against it. I think she said a couple of boys moved to one of the grammars but actually then came back after a couple of weeks.

They run dedicated support streams for early entry.
in y13 tutor groups are organised by subject so they are with people looking at the same courses.

she has had a great relationship with all her tutors - no real staffing disruptions I am aware of for her subjects.

after mocks (maybe end of y12 or maybe ones before) they put them in ‘streams’ according to predicted results. Those predicted lower grades have some restrictions on free periods etc - not allowed to leave school in them. They can move out of those though if they get good results in next exams. Not sure what other support they get as my dd wasn’t in those streams.

they are doing a lot of building work at the moment - im not sure how it will affect sixth form as they kept y13 in the original buildings this year when the bulk of the work started so to not disrupt them close to a levels. The temporary buildings have aircon though so im not sure it would be bad to be in them anyway!

they also got a great recent ofsted.
