Aylesbury High School vs Pate's Grammer School

I live in Aylesbury and my daughter will take the 11+ exam this year. She is doing fairly well for Bucks exam and we are preparing her for the Gloucestershire exam particularly aiming for Pate's. The school has a good ranking and we liked it when we visited the same a few days back. Can someone throw some light on the key differences in the exam pattern and the best ways to prepare?

Also, do you think it is a worthwhile move?

The two schools are so far apart that I doubt anyone has experience of both of them.
I can't see the value of uprooting your family (& finding a primary school for year 6) for one grammar school over another. Pates will have better results but that's purely down to a more selective intake. It's unlikely to make any difference to an individual.

@Komalchopra , agree re not worth moving, if your dd is bright she is likely to achieve the same grades regardless of the schools she attends. Remember there are around 100 grammar schools in the uk and most based in Kent and Bucks. If you live in East Anglia you still achieve an excellent education in an area without grammar schools.
Have you checked out the forum section of elevenplusexams.co.uk?

Ive no experience of Pates (in fact never heard of it), but I live in Aylesbury too and my DD goes to AHS and loves it. It's a very good school.

Pate’s is an excellent school and super competitive. Many children come from far to sit the Gloucestershire exams and many families also move to the county if their children gain places. My daughter is going to a Gloucestershire grammar, I was really surprised at the amount of families relocating for a place at her school - off the top of my head: Oxford, Norwich, Bolton, Reading are some I remember.
