Anyone tried M&S or Next school trainers? Do they last?

Need a pair of completely plain black trainers with no logo whatsoever. M&S and Next seem to be the only "brands" I can find that meet this description.

Has anyone tried these recently? Do they last?

I bought Next about 5 years ago but they were awful and fell apart. I am loathe to buy cheap brands for feet but trainers made by proper manufacturers with a teeny tiny subtle logo are completely banned by the school!

Next did not last - but at least I had my receipt and they gave me a full refund.

It may sound snobbish but don't send your secondary school child with an unbranded trainer. I hate the fact that they will be judged for what they wear but that seems to be how life is.

As an aside, my younger children have both next and M&S school shoes without issue but can't speak for the trainers.

Forgot to add, the school sound very unrealistic to expect kids to not have branded trainers. Some cheaper branded ones are cheaper than M&S etc

Thanks but it's a super strict policy. Completely black including the sole and no branding whatsoever. All kids at the school will be in the same boat. Just trying to find the most durable trainer that meets this criteria.

M&S last well.
We've had plain black trainers from Deichmann too.
No one cared.

Do you mean PE trainers or school shoes?

For school shoes I recommend subscribing to Clarks Outlet site newsletter. In Clarks Outlet they have already discounted shoes and they inform if the shoes are on further sales. I usually buy few quality Clarks pairs for a fraction of price

I bought M&S trainers for both my children (two different styles) and both fell apart in less than a term! I won’t risk them again.

I got a pair from Next once, they lasted less than a term. Surely you can find something in Clarks that fits the brief?

I don't think they would meet the very strict 'no logo' rule, but for others reading this I would highly recommend Adidas Tensaur in all black as school shoes. Under £30, apparently very comfortable and last really well. They do look like school shoes, not trainers.

We've also had Dr Martens Dante Mono, that have lasted really well. However, they are more shoe than trainer.

Next are terrible for trainers. I would avoid. Not tried M&S

Have you got a parents Facebook group or similar for the school? It might be worth getting real life experience about what is banned/allowed before you buy cheap plain ones.

My kids school made it sound very strictly no-brand at induction and in the joining info, but in practice, after the first term, everyone moved to basic Nike/adidas shoes from sports direct that actually lasted and nothing was ever said about it!

The M&S ones are great. No branded trainers allowed at our school and all the kids wear the M&S ones, boys and girls

We bought M&S ones last year (black leather trainers) and they completely fell apart by Oct half term.
I should have complained tbh, they were shockingly poor quality.

We’ve got plain black trainers from
Decathlon, that are holding up ok - but my DS doesn’t play huge amounts of sport, so it is only 2x per week they are worn.

Thanks all. The school have been no help whatsoever. I emailed them a photo a few days ago and got no reply. I went on Friday for a parents day and showed them a photo but the guy said he is not the person to ask and the right person wasn't there 😐.

For now I have bought plain black M&S trainers from Vinted. DS has a friend in an older year who said they either colour out any logos or put black tape over any brand specific markings.

So the M&S will do for now until DS starts in September when he can figure out a bit more.
