Chestnut Grove: Art & Design Specialist Test… what to expect

Hi, just wondering if anyone is aware of what to prepare for if answering the Wandsworth’s Chestnut Grove HS Art & Design Specialist tests?

Have scoured the net for any sort of information but couldn’t find anything.

With the Language Specialist tests you kind of know what to prepare, but not sure what kind of questions would be asked for the A&D.

Any information, ideas or suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks so much!!

I think they deliberately don't publish details of their tests, reserve the right to change the format YoY etc, to try to make them 'prep proof'.

I think in recent years it's been a 1 hour test in which you've been asked to draw two things, an object and some kind of scenery. I think most recently it was something like a shoe and a forest?

Hi thanks for that info. That was helpful. I get being ‘prep proof’ but just wanted to find out a basic what to expect so she’s not going in completely blind.

yep, understood. the above summarises the little I know:

(1) the test is always about 'producing art' rather than say writing about it;
(2) i think it's always pencil sketches, with the school providing the pencils (someone else might confirm this);
(3) it's recently been producing two pieces, one object and one scene, last year specifically a shoe and a forest.
