Where should we move - west of England?

Hi, we have decided to move house, largely due to very poor secondary education options in the area, but also a lot of other reasons, but are finding it hard to decide where to look.

We’re looking for recommended non-grammar state secondaries south of Manchester north of Shrewsbury on the west side of England, ideally.

We’re currently having the house valued but think our budget will be around £475-£500k for a 3 bed minimum. We’re looking for a village setting near a town (somewhere with a community) and ideally not on a housing estate (I know- we sound very picky! We’ve recently looked at a few houses on new build estates and they’re just not for us).

Is this an impossible task??!

Might be a bit far north but there are villages around Wigan that have what you are looking for.

Loads of nice Cheshire villages with good state secondary schools where you could get a decent home for that budget.

@whu thank you. Can you recommend any village in particular? We’ve been looking at Christleton and Tarporley which look lovely. Winsford has a highly rated school on Snobe but I’ve seen mixed reviews about the village online.
