Chemistry GCSE OCR board - 6 mark questions

Has anyone found any resources that help with answering 6 mark questions for chemistry GCSE OCR board? I can find loads for AQA but none for OCR. Not sure why but DS is unable to score more than a 2 despite doing well in the rest of the paper. Would be grateful for any advice! Thanks

The questions are similar. He needs to read the question and answer exactly what is asked, make sure he is not waffling around the topic rather than being specific. He needs to be applying his knowledge, not just recall.

He’s definitely waffling! I’ve been trying to find some exemplary answers so he can compare what he is writing.

Yes but he is struggling to see how that translates into what he is meant to write - I have also looked and quite often there are various answers he could have given. He then looks at his answer and says that’s what I’ve written!! For AQA board there are lots of examples of what candidates have actually written so I was trying to find the same.

generally for 6 marks you have to make 6 points as listed in the mark scheme or sometimes 3 points and 3 explanations.

If he’s only getting 2/6, he’s not reading the questions, rather just waffling the what he thinks the answer is. Can you post the Q and his answer?

He does well in all other parts of the exam - this is a pattern in all the science papers (he does poorly in the longer questions). He says they don’t have scrap paper so can’t write notes, so I think he just ends up with a disorganised mess! He says he doesn’t know how to write it, so I was hoping to show him some model answers.

They have spare paper at the back of the exam paper. The problem with giving model answers is that’s it’s not good if he can’t understand the question in the first place. That’s where I would start for any of my students.
