Hi!

Looking for thoughts and experiences of Challoners girls grammar school in Buckinghamshire. How do you find it? Kids happy? I worry that there may be too much pressure has anyone found this?

Many thanks!

@RubyPoster If your DD has had tutoring for Bucks 11 plus don’t they already know what pressure looks like? Not to mention parental expectation. Most people expect high standards at a grammar school. If you are not wanting this type of education there are other schools. However if DD thrives on a challenge then it’s a perfectly good choice. You don’t have to have DD take the 11 plus and you could just choose your local secondary. Most pressure is from the girls themselves who are perfectionists. They would be anywhere though.

If you live in the area, you must already have some idea of what type of school it is – namely an academic, all-girls school whose parents are, generally speaking, pushy professional types who expect their DDs to achieve. Girls who go there will almost certainly do well academically, some pupils enjoy it, some don't. You just have to ask yourself whether you think your DD will and whether she would thrive in that sort of environment.
