Has anyone's DC applied to Compton, APS, Woodhouse, Fortismere for 6th form?
Have your DC been sent offers?
We are still waiting for all of these.

We’ve had a Fortismere offer, it was sent to DD, has your kid checked their email/junk email? We haven’t applied to the others on your list except Woodhouse but I think they don’t offer until at least April. Good luck.

Ah thanks. Fortismere offer has now come through. Will wait for the others....

I realised a bit too late last year that we'd only had a proper offer from one (APS), which was my daughter's first choice. I just waited and then realised I'd waited too long. One of our applications (Highgate Woods) had not been completed because they didn't get a reference despite her Tutor insisting he'd sent it straight to them on request, the school insisted they didn't get it and wouldn't offer after the deadline.

So if I was you I would check what the deadlines are and just double check everything is in order before that date.

Thankfully it all worked out fine for us and she got the grades for her first choice, but I had a few nervous months of waiting for the results.

@Escentricmolecule gosh thanks for the tip! I will double check that all the application paperwork is in order.
How is your DD enjoying APS 6th form? I think it may end up being our top choice too.
Any particular highlights or things she doesn't like so much?
Thanks

She's enjoying it - as much as teenagers enjoy school. She's been there since Year 7, and like most of her friends they've stayed on into sixth form. She's made friends with people who came from elsewhere though, and I think they were all pretty integrated within the first term.

She's had great support through out her time there. Her teachers all seem to know her (despite her being very quiet in class) and what she needs in terms of help to improve her grades. Teachers are contactable and answer pretty quickly. Pastoral support is great. There are a couple of teachers she's not liked, but I'm sure that's the same with all schools.

One thing that I think puts people off APS is you have to take 4 subjects in Year 12, but you can drop one at the end of Year 12. It's a lot of work on top of the big jump from GCSEs to A Levels. But it does give you more options if you child is not certain about which subjects to take.

Overall we've been very happy with APS for both of my children.

I keep hearing that Fortismere is very "druggy". Is this a major problem in the 6th form? More than other schools?
