Parents that have sucessfully appealed

over a secondary place - just wondered what grounds you used in your appeal. My nephew has missed out on his first choice of school (much better academic results & wider range of facilities) & instead got a place at the 'usual' school for his primary school to attend.
They are considering appealing but are wondering what grounds (if any) will sway the appeal

Hiya

I have not successlly appealed but I have just ordered a book from Amazon called "How to Win your School Appeal" recommended on another thread so thought I would post this as I hate it when I post and nobody answers - good luck

Hello Whizzz, I have appealed and won but only in Primary. You could search under unquietdad - he is the appeals expert on Mumsnet and the voice of calm. Best of luck for your nephew

There is a great little booklet you can download free of charge:

www.ace-ed.org.uk/advice/booklets/Appealing.html

and the organization that prepared it also offers a free telephone advice service (number on home page of the same website).

Good luck!

Hi, thanks for the recommendation but our appeal was for DD to get into junior school in Y1, so different issues!

I'd agree about ACE though. They may not have all the answers but they will help you know the questions you should be asking at the appeal.
