Hi All

Anyone got any experiences of these three? I’m interested in how they deal with any difficulties a child might be having either bullying/academic, is homework excessive and are the schools diverse? Are they nurturing environments? Would also love general feedback. Thanks.

Hi OP, my DDs have been at WGS for several years. They're very happy there and doing well, so I can't really tell you about how the school would deal with problems!

As for your questions about diversity and homework, it is a bit "how long is a piece of string" - I would say WGS is pretty diverse (we ourselves are a mixed-ethnicity family) and as it has a boarding option there are a lot of international students. DDs don't seem to have any problems completing their homework on time, but obviously this would depend on the individual teachers and the students themselves.

Overall it feels like a well-rounded school, which is why we chose it. It has a reputation for being very sporty (and this indeed seems to be the case) but DDs are the opposite of this, being super-academic and bookish, and this has been very well-supported. There's also a thriving performing arts and music community. It is big enough for there to be "something for everyone", but not so big that the teachers forget who DDs are.

Downside - there have been constant roadworks in the surrounding roads for YEARS, in all seriousness we have realised DDs will never see their school commute without roadworks for the entire time they are there! So traffic can be absolute hell sometimes.

That’s so helpful and thank you for taking the time to reply.
