we are thinking of moving to Stafford, Staffordshire. DS will be going into year 10. He has been bullied and is slightly behind so we are looking for a supportive school. Does anyone have any recommendations about schools in the area?

Sorry that you haven't had any responses to this @Ruthin.

It's just a bit too far away for me to know.

Sorry - I don't know either. Bumping for you.

I was going to move to Staffordshire but didn't because of uncertainty over secondaries, but don't let that put you off. (I was looking for somewhere good for a DC with ASD and just couldn't get the information, so a bit of a different case.)

There is a school just over the border in Cheshire run by the National Autistic Society.

I have two nieces at the King's School in Kidsgrove and they seem to be doing well there. Not sure about catchments though.

Thanks. That's useful to know but DC has always managed in mainstream where we are, but needs some adjustments and support. I was looking for similar in Staffordshire but it's hard to find except from people who have similar DC in the school - schools tend to say that they are inclusive but that doesn't always translate to having a clue about how to deal with autism as children can be so different.

State or Independent? Lichfield Cathedral School is great and with a smaller size the pastoral care is great. Avoid Denstone.

Walton High School is the most popular of the Stafford schools I think, but I can't comment on how good the pastoral care is.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate it. I have spoken to a couple of the schools recommended and put in an application.
