Atom Learning/Standardised results-CAT4 SAS

Hi all, I am a bit confused and I could do with some help. Apologies if I am not explaining myself clearly, I was raised in the Middle East so I am not sure how it all works!

My child is preparing for his 11+ by doing Atom work.
We have 1- the Standardized results from his school for the tests taken each September, and 2- Atom Learning scores. I understand from some tables posted here in another thread that the school results/numbers do not mean the same as the Atom results/numbers. Please see the image in my second post. Obviously these numbers do not make that much of a difference, but given that it's an average between NVR/VR/English/Mats (right!?) then it does matter whether he gets less in Atom but that still correspond to a higher number at school.
Now what I don't get: my child did a mock test on Atom today specifically called 'ISEB'. I guess that is an ISEB past paper, it was composed of the 4 subjects above. His result was less than expected, and I am a bit shocked.

What do you need help with?

Supercoolmoon · 04/06/2023 20:37

Let's say his average score on the Atom ISEB he did today was 125. That could be enough for him to enter Westminster according to the table above (I know - in theory, things change, etc etc, I am just trying to understand) because an Atom 124 is comparable to a Westminster 132. However this was an ATOM Iseb, not a 'free standing' ISEB paper, so would that mean that the score should be taken at face value and not translated from an Atom score into a CAT4 SAS?
If you've managed to understand what I am asking I would really like to hear your opinion!
Thank you.

I would say if your dc gets 125+ on Atom mocks then he is in a good place. Even better if you can get it to 130s. But you still have plenty of time.

Still plenty, plenty of time. My DC increased quite a lot from this point to test. Atom seemed, nearer the test, be in the region of 125-138 (sometimes higher, sometimes lower).

School standardised in the mid / high 130s.

ISEM DC achieved 135-138, with mid 120s in English. Of those we know, many had high NVR/Maths scores but what will really set kids apart is the English/VR so focus on that. Lots of kids are good at NVR/Maths.

Got a first round place at Westminster. Didn't take it up due to distance, wanted a more local school.

Good luck!

Sorry that should say ISEB results (the actual ones)...
