Short of asking them, is there a way to know if a school is oversubscribed? I'm essentially trying to work out our odds of getting DD in!

I got a lot of info from mumsnet! Start a thread asking about the particular school.

Over subscribed usually means there will be exams. Usually local parents know if nearly all Dc get in. If it’s highly selective they won’t. If it’s rural and not academic, decent chance.

I would just ask the school tbh! My DD’s is perfectly open about it; the range over the years is between 2.5 and 3 serious applications (ie pay the admission fee and take the exams/interview) for each place, at the main entry point which is 11+/year 7
