Y11 shock mock & lack of revision techniques

Has anyone else found that, not only does this year seem to be a bit later in finishing the syllabus, but the mock results seemed worse than ever before (partly anecdotal but fairly reliable) and the kids don't seem to have quite got the hang of how to revise (I suppose they've had less experience of exams due to the pandemic)?

I'm a parent but would love to hear feedback from both parents and teachers (I've read elsewhere that teachers seem to find this year's cohort particularly unmotivated...)

Im not a teacher and my eldest is year 11, so have no idea about what the usual time to finish the syllabus is.

My DD is extremely motivated and revises. She did very well in her mocks. Her school is fab though and concentrates on teaching them a variety of revision techniques.

My friends children have been a mixed bag in terms of mock results though.

My dd is in year 11 and does no revision at all. She’s really excited about a-levels (if she does well enough with no revision) and uni / career, works hard in lessons so not a general lack of engagement or interest in school / learning but complete crap at doing any work outside school. Many discussions about revision techniques and battles about doing some work at home later I have left her to it!
