Recommendations for textbook that I can use to understand and help my son with maths

My son is struggling with year eight maths. I am happy with the support he receives at school, but I would like to be better prepared to support him with prep and revision. I am a parent who doesn’t find maths easy.

Perhaps a maths teacher working with children of my son’s age could help. I would like recommendations for a textbook that gives basic instructions on concepts and strategies used in mathematics at this level.I would like follow up exercises with answers. I have tried using my son’s textbook, but the answers are not given, so I cannot check that I understand what he is supposed to know. I prefer a book to online tutorials.

Thank you.

You might be able to find the answer book for your son's textbook that you can order a copy of?

I learned an embarrassing amount from this, when I was doing my GCSE evening class

Carol Vorderman is a shero 😳

Either try a CGP Foundation level GCSE maths guide, plus associated workbook with answers.

Or if you prefer corbettmaths.com/ might be good.
