Wilson Grammar or Kings College School, Wimbledon-Dilemma for Year 7

My DS is currently in Independent School. We live in South West London. I am so happy that he got places in Wilson Grammar School, Kings College School, Wimbledon and Hampton school. We are planning for Wilson Grammar School or KCS, Wimbledon but confused which will be best for him. May I ask for advise from parents whose DS go to any of these 2 schools, their experience etc. Which school will be the best choice? Thank you

If you look at the elevenplusexams.co.uk website in the Surrey section there is a long thread about this putting Wilson's as the preferred option. As you are in the private system you are aware of the benefits but also the costs, fees are only going 1 way with the threat of VAT if a labour govt in 2024. Plus the govt pressure on Oxbridge to accept state school applicants. But KCS has both IB and girls in the sixth form. Good luck with your decision as your ds has done very well and will prob get the same academic results whatever school he goes to.

The private schools like KCS are very sought after. People pay the fees for a reason.

Would your drive a BMW or a Nissan? If money is no option, possibly a BMW right? People pay for BMW for two reasons. One is they can afford it and two is they like it. Any car would get you from A to B.

My DS is at Wilson's and we could not be happier with the school. He is having a brilliant time taking the opportunities on offer and doing incredibly well academically. Happy to answer questions via PM.

I know kids in both schools and work in one of them. Each one has pros and cons. Your son may have an easier life in KCS as they have all the help they need to perform at their best. But for the same reason, your son may be more prepared to be an independent young man in Wilson’s.
Their academic level is very similar so you may choose school based on commuting and circle of friends. Good luck
