Kew House vs Radnor (Kneller) vs Claremont Fan

Does anyone have experience of these 3? We know of families at Radnor and Claremont but not at at Kew House.

We know a fair amount about facilities and the school culture from open days but how do they compare academically?

My neighbours kids are at Kew house. I think while happy at first has become disgruntled. She doesn’t feel they are well supported

Anything further you can add about Kew House? I really didn't get a great feeling but it seems to be thought of as on the up with local parents, especially in Richmond. Wondering if I am missing something.

Have friends with DC at Kew House. A couple have dyslexia and they say the school has been great.
All seem very happy.

Both our DC went through Kew House. Overall we were happy with it. Pastoral care has been excellent. It's a smallish school so not "slick", especially with admin which drives me nuts occasionally but education seems high quality and there are definitely some very bright kids there (as well as some more average level ones).

It's not a hot house but gets the best out of the kids who engage. We aren't from the Uk so I don't have much to compare it to.

Both my DC are in unis ranked in the top 5 for their subject. We looked at Radnor but it wasn't for us, but may have changed since.

What put you off Radnor @Absolutechaos ?

Radnor and Kew are similar academically imo.
However once Radnor (Kneller) has been finished (late 2024) the actual premises/facilities will be in stark contrast, as yet another tower block is being built to surround Kew House.

Absolutechaos · 15/02/2023 08:34

@Limebasilico this was a few years ago but our feeling was that Radnor was tripping over itself at the time to be "better" and to climb the rankings quickly whereas Kew House seemed to be more content with being "it's best self now" with more gradual improvements, which we have seen eventuate over recent years.

It's true that Kew House feels quite inner London in terms of facilities but it does have an external sports field and boat sheds. My DC aren't very sporty so it wasn't an issue for us and they spend about 80% of the school year indoors anyway due to the weather!

The problem with Radnor (as I understand it) is planning permission to convert the newly acquired old Army Band building into a school.

They have outlined permission but nothing much has happened (at least as at Sept 2023) - and it's a really big, big project to turn the old building into a new school.

When (if ?) it's done it will be amazing. The issue for kids going there this year/next year is when will it be completed and will they be living in a building site whilst it's worked on.
