Colchester High School - any opinions?

My son is due to start secondary school this Sept. I am having some doubts about our state school choice and know that Colchester High has just received a double excellent inspection. Does anyone has experience of this school, in particular its pastoral care? Thanks.

Hi, I have two children in the senior school and they love it! Both are very happy and we’ve found the pastoral care to be good and responsive. Any issues are sorted quickly and they keep you informed and are approachable. The double excellent was nice to see and certainly reflects our all round experience of the school.

Hi kitz90. My son has been at Colchester High School since Reception after he didn't receive any of his state school choices. It wasn't a choice that we ever thought we would have to make but we are so glad that we did. The school have been fantastic both supporting and stretching him academically but also providing a safe and inspiring environment to develop in. Although we had quite a few options for senior provision, we made the decision 2 years ago to remain at the school and once again, we are super happy that we did. The SLT and teachers really encourage the students to become the very best individuals that they can be but also part of a wider community both in school and outside. I truly know that my son's teachers (and members of SLT!) know exactly who my son is and that they want the best for him. He is encouraged to have a voice and opinions and he can see that these are listened to and acted upon. I'm sure that if you have further questions, the school would be more than happy to welcome you and your family in.

My friend's son goes there and she can't speak of it highly enough
