Hi all, looking for some insights on Didsbury High.

Eldest goes to secondary in 2.5y, (currently in y4) and an opportunity has come up to move into Didsbury High catchment. We are currently in Chorlton. I don't want to pursue the grammar route, child is bright but not goal orientated and I'm not a fan of the tutoring etc, however I've heard very good things about Didsbury High, Laurus trust etc. Currently Chorlton High would be the local state option. I know next to nothing about researching high schools, how to compare etc as she's our eldest and we haven't done it before so I'd be grateful for any insights/pointers.

Thank you!

What did you decide to do OP?

Ha! The situation evolved! And end of story is we now live in Hale. But of a side step and hear shift, but we are very happy with the decision. How it will pan out on a secondary front remains to be seen. We did get a tutor - just to make sure DC wasn’t behind the other kids who would inevitably have one. Not sure yet if she will sit the 11+.
50% of the move for us was about the house, and the housing stock we wanted just didn’t come up in Didsbury. So we looked further afield and are very happy with our choice!

DH is an awful school/sixth form. Teachers lie, students lie, bullying, disability discrimination. We had an awful experience and had to pull our child out. They will throw everything at your child without any proof or evidence, then attack the parents. Abuse at its finest. I would consider other options for the wellbeing of your child. They will try to mess the child's life and the family's and then blame the child and the parent. Do not go there. Better options out there than this awful vindictive place.
