Just wondering approximately what level your child has to be performing at in 11+ exams to get into LEH, KGS and Guildford? I don't want to put DD through exams if there's not a chance she might get in.

My daughter got into KGS but not LEH last year - her school said KGS was aspirational, LEH they kept quiet on (so i assume meant very unlikely!). End of Year 4 she was 109 VR, 123 QR, 93 NVR, 115 Eng, 123 GPS, Maths 111. although that year was blasted by COVID and this was before she had any tutoring to prepare.

Thanks @SpringCalling, may I ask if your DD was in a state primary or a prep school?

She was in a prep school. Lots of her new classmates at KGS are from state schools.

I think this is very hard to work out if they are at a state school!

Firstly, they need to be working 'in greater depth' in Eng and Maths.

^This is useful because you can buy practice papers on the rough level for the school you're aiming for and it tells you what scores you need to get to have a chance of getting in.

They do need to be working at greater depth in English and maths. I know a few who achieved 115 and above in all SATS but didn't get places.

No need to buy exam papers, so many schools publish their past papers. The site quoted above sells exampapers that are pitched at Westminster/St Paul's level so mostly harder than what you get at KGS. LEH is actually more on the problem-solving side, best preparation for that might be SPGS past sample papers. Do Latymer Upper and Alleyn's past papers too. The KGS Maths paper is hard but the pass mark is around 70-75% only I think so it is hard to identify scholarship candidates, you don't need to solve everything. DD did not finish the KGS Maths paper and found it hard but was offered a place without problems (no waiting list).
