Our school uses Classlist for communications, groups set up for each year group. Also PTA have a FB page.

DD1 is entering year 11, I don’t have contact details for her friends parents. However she has a newly diagnosed medical condition and her friends have been amazing. Some of their parents offer her lifts as they are aware of her issues.

DD2 is entering year 7 and we have a friend from their primary joining her so DD2 is lucky to be getting introductions to new friends that way (no-one else from primary is going to her secondary.) I certainly get lots of info from her mum

We have a PTA group, a y7 starters group and then each form have their own groups. There appear to be very strict rules!!

I agree with pp, Secondary school is very hands off! I'm only in a WA with parents of kids in the same year because the kids were at Primary together and us mums got to know each other. Some of the kids have drifted apart but us mums still get together. It is useful to share info about activity days etc.

Second hand uniform can be done on an open face book page. What secondary age child would agree to a parent arranged meet up (play date?!) answer - none I know. School gives out info . Kids all have such different timetables so little value in “ooh home ec tomorrow what to bring” etc as unlikely the others on same schedule. Let it go! Primary is over embrace the freedom from helicoptering!

At our school and other locally the kids are all on individual time tables then streamed for subjects on top.
Very little common info to be shared. The stuff that is via email
