I went for an interview there a few years ago. Lovely school with lovely girls. Parking abominable though!

Isn't it mixed?

They seem to get good results given that they don't use an exam for selection.

Goodness me, you're right! It's been so many years, that my memory isn't what it should be any more 😏

OP please disregard my first comment. I am getting the schools mixed up. I was actually talking about The Study in Wimbledon which IS an all girls school 🤦

MaitreKarlsson · 29/07/2022 22:41

Very rocky past. You don't say if daughter is a junior or senior, but i personally know parents who removed their children from the junior school a few years back due to poor standards. Old head left after inadequate rating. New hwad now so things may have changed. Do some digging around.

EweCee · 29/07/2022 22:50

We went to see and are considering it too. New head is incredible; very child focussed, dynamic, engaging and that seems to be the ethos throughout the school. Results are VERY good considering they are 'proudly non-selective' (just with a very rigorous previous school report/ recommendation review and interview 😃). We liked it, only question is that its small (but DC has thrived at current small school) and that the co-curricular aren't as extensive as other, more established schools. But again the Head said they are increasing their co-curricular and respond to what the children want.

I was initially concerned about the past history/ rumours but understand the rumours were unfounded after investigation (?) and once the old head left the school has turned around enormously. Its very highly rated by our current prep Head and past pupils who now attend Hall School.

AiryFairy1 · 30/07/2022 14:12

We were also very impressed with the new head and our dealings with other members of staff have all been very positive. My DD starts Y7 there in September.
It is small, but DD primary was tiny and we think she might get lost in a bigger school, so small suits our requirements.

Thanks.
We too we’re extremely impressed with the current head etc.
Aware each school has pros and cons and you have to see what’s right for your child.
Have recently heard quite a few negative perspectives about the school in terms of significant bullying and bad influences from children who attend. Food for thought…

Just thought I'd jump in as someone direct messaged me as my son is at Hall School Wimbledon. The school is very good in my opinion and as far as I can tell the pupils very supportive of each other. There is a very strong focus on wellbeing and accepting and nurturing each child, encouraging them along with lots of positive reinforcement around the things they are "good at". I can obviously only speak from our personal experience, but our year 8 (going into 9) son enjoys it there and the kids are all decent and well-behaved as far as I'm aware! My take is that it's just a friendly, modest-sized independent school that's not too intense or poncey. We like it!

Hi everyone,
We are considering The Hall School, Wimbledon, Ewell Castle and Cedars School for our son.
Does anyone have children at these schools?
We went to look at Ewell Castle and to be honest weren’t enamoured with it. We still need to go to The Hall and Cedars.
Any insights are very welcome!
Thanks

tigertaletelling · 02/02/2023 11:23

Hi @mim7 wonder what you’ve decided about schools? We’ve yet to see Ewell or The Hall, but have heard Ewell buildings are old and s bit run down. Was it that, or something else you picked up on? Feel free to PM.

BillyBanton · 12/10/2023 15:03

I would not recommend any parent to bring their child to this school or depart with their hard earned money.
The school does not meet Health & Safety regulations or standards.
The attitude of the head principle is very damaging as Safeguarding is not being met
And would appear.as If money is the school only objective.

Thanks Billy I have PM you .
