Did anyone else's DC come home and say topics such as nuclear were on the exam today even they were on the official AQA 'not assessed' list?

My DD loved this Q because she is very political and has been on many anti Brexit marches etc - so she wrote what sounded like a whole one sided monologue with zero balance and facts, figures and opinions likely not taught or on the syllabus …. I just said “well done dear…” and left it at that…

I'm impressed at your daughters strong political views. But worried for any student that answered it though knowing how AQA love a bit of balance in their makr schemes. Fingers crossed for her 🤞

I am under no illusion that she just dived in an made mince meat of it with her enthusiasm but not going to take that away from her at this time as she had a go. She will work it out for herself in August.

Can someone clarify what paper this is for? My son sat higher tier, separate science. I'm confused!

WobblyLondoner · 10/06/2022 16:32

Triple science physics. So as opposed to combined science. AQA exam board - exam was yesterday.

Wickywickyyow · 10/06/2022 16:36

Yes he's AQA , taken yesterday afternoon. Sounds like it's not his though if combined is the opposite of separate science. There's so many different terminology that I'm losing track.

Sorry, missed that this was posted earlier!

Tinkerblonde1 · 10/06/2022 17:27

Hopefully with it being the last question they were not too thrown. Most of my class thought it was ok on the whole.

Wickywickyyow · 10/06/2022 17:46

Actually I think it might be ds as well?!

That’s good to know and reassuring. Thanks @Tinkerblonde1

How far in advance do the schools get the exam papers. AQA have said they will be checking the AI against future exams but realistically how will they correct any errors that are found?

About a week before sometimes more, but the EO can only open them an hour before the exam, and they cannot check the inside of the paper.

LightlySo · 10/06/2022 21:10

@Simonjt So even if AQA do spot an error nothing can be done can I it?

Friend is an EO, he wonders if paper 2 also has an error as schools have been informed they will be posted out by the 20th at the latest (exam on 23rd) due to error in the paper.

They can send an arratum, but I don’t know if this relies on a chils finding problem, child tells invigilator, invigilator tells EO, EO tells examboard after most like ages on hold.

Libertybear80 · 10/06/2022 21:17

There's been a message released from AQA about this.

rebelyellow · 10/06/2022 21:39

Yes yes yes! Not the first paper my DD has sat with this same issue. Fuming for this year group, already so, so disadvantaged 😢

actiongirl1978 · 11/06/2022 08:31

Yes they've reprinted paper 2. Apparently they decided an erratum wasn't appropriate.

An erratum is usually sent by email before the exam starts, not once a pupil has noticed the error.

Womblesaremyfavouritefood · 11/06/2022 08:47

I'm getting confused now. Are AQA saying they are reprinting the entire Paper 2 which will be sat on 23 June because their Advanced Revision Information is wrong (as it was for Paper 1). This newly reprinted paper WILL now accurately reflect the AI which the students have been using to revise for months? Sorry if I'm being dense.

I’m an EO and I’ve been. Told the papers I hold already for Physics on 23rd are too be replaced due to an error they’ve spotted.

Just hoping the replacement papers show up soon as I’m leaving in a week and would like to ensure they’re sorted before I go.

noblegiraffe · 11/06/2022 12:03

New papers can be sent to schools very quickly. A-level maths exams have been moved to the afternoon slot this year because they have been leaked so often in previous years. This would give the exam board time to courier new papers to schools on the day of the exam if necessary.
