Hi just wondering if anyone can comment on girls football in independent schools, and are they any good. SW London and Surrey

Surbiton High is outstanding, last week they won the U13 and U14 National championships. Follow them on Twitter for the details. They have lots of sports scholarships and if your dd is playing at club level you can probably ask about joining at any year group. The prep school plays football too.

Surbiton is great for football, but big for a private school and taking a huge bulge year this year. I’m not sure how that will affect chances to play, teams etc.

The other SW London private girls’ schools also do football to some extent, Putney has it as an official PE option and I think also Sutton (but you’d need to check). Wimbledon High has it as a club, rather than an official option, from memory. We asked as dd plays in a team, but in the end decided she could play her football outside school and the academic fit was more important, with school football as a nice to have.

Ah ty both. That’s useful abd good to know the level and expectations. A friend is headmistress at PHS but they don’t offer scholarships till older years
