Woking area, boys secondary schools - private or state

Hello,

I have hopes of my daughter attending Sir William Perkins in Chertsey, but I haven't found a boys (or mixed) equivalent. Is there one? Similar ethos, approach, fairly academic but not overly pushy, grounded, Sport options etc.

I know Hoebridge have recently extending their intake to secondary... I wonder if anyone has a view on this?

Or Reeds.

I don't think he will be Hampton or RGS material.

Also happy to consider state schools.... Fulbrook, Woking High or BDB in Sheerwater would be our 3 main ones. I haven't heard great things about any of them but happy to hear all views.

Currently year 3 so have a few years to think about it.

Thanks!

Have a look at Halliford - lots of brothers of SWPS girls are there.

Also St George's and Claremont Fan Court would be worth a look (both private and mixed)

Reeds has the right ethos for you but hard to get into (relatively small year 7&8)and very expensive. Quite a few boys from Woking area.

Halliford and St George’s worth looking at. I’m not a fan of Claremont but it may have changed since I looked at it a couple of years ago.

I think all the local preps that have or going up to 16 are still back up options - Hoe Bridge, Cranmore, Downsend. They are struggling to fill their classes.

Claremont has changed completely over the last couple of years (new head) - it was very difficult to get into this year. There are quite a few threads on CFC on here

Halliford have socials with SWPS. Or St George's.

Thanks all I will take a look

I had ruled out St George’s as we are not catholic, not religious at all. Is it heavy on religion?

Religion is not pushed at St Georges, the majority are probably not Catholic. We are not religious and it doesn’t bother mine, so definitely have a look

Oh and there are lots of sisters at SWPS with brothers at St G as they are very close to each other, and on same trainline

St George's. I wouldn't worry if you are not Catholic, we aren't and I don't know anyone that is of my children's friends. It is actually less religious than my CofE private secondary was. Plenty of kids from the Woking area there, bus network is extensive.
