Does anyone commute from Horsham to Reigate Grammar or Brighton College?

Hello.

Bit of a long shot, but I’m looking for some reassurance. I’m hoping that someone’s DC might have some experience of taking the daily school bus from the Horsham area to either Brighton College or Reigate Grammar that they would be happy to share please?

We have visited the schools and were very impressed with both- what I’m not sure about is how feasible the commute would be? Are the children shattered at the end of the day or does it just become routine? I’m also wondering how many pupils travel in from the Horsham area- are there a few or just one or two? Trying to get a sense of the realities of how it would work and would really value someone’s insight on this.

Thanks!

I know friends whose children get the bus to Reigate Grammar from Horsham.

BC offers 19 bus routes and there's one to Horsham (route J).

@Harrumphingquietly , if you speak to the admissions teams they will give you an idea of the number of dc who get on at the Horsham stops. DC travel long distances on private school buses in all areas and the dc regard it as part of the school day where they make friends and review homework etc. What you need to ensure from the schools is what happens if your dc stays on for a sports practice or play rehearsal etc, ie how many times a term you will need to drive to the school to collect your dc. Some schools have a limited late bus service for this issue.

I gather Reigate have a late bus for that eventuality.

Thank you hockeygrass - that is really helpful advice, it’s good to hear that the journey becomes part of the school experience (I especially like the idea of reviewing homework!) I’ll chat to the admissions and see what they can tell me, good point about staying late and definitely worth checking what the procedure is. We have lots to think about!

GMH1974 · Good to hear that about Reigate!

Bus info is on RGS website. You can see the routes, times and prices.

I think lots come from W.Sussex.

From Horsham you can train it to either. Train to Redhill then change to Reigate. Short walk to Reigate Grammar. Quite a hoof from Brighton station to the college.
